Wandering Nook

A Regenerative Respite Experience

Wander. Rest. Just Be.

Wandering Nook was born during a time of deep burnout.

After years of navigating intense nervous system stress, my daughter and I stepped away from conventional systems in the United States and came to Costa Rica with a simple intention: to pause, breathe, and simply be.

What we discovered was that healing came from spaciousness, creating space for the nervous system to respite. Moving slow. Becoming present. Listening to our needs. Sleeping. Eating nourishing food. Dancing. Playing in the sand. Swimming in the ocean. Listening to music. Navigating jungle life. Living in a health conscious community. Doing nothing. Just ‘being with’ ourselves. Observing - Noticing how our environment impacted our felt sense of safety, creating opportunity to heal.

It was not easy. It was hard - rewiring from survival to safety mode. Over time our nervous systems began to reorganize, and life began to flourish starting with little pockets full of sunshine growing into big continuous rays of light. The sparkle in my daughters eyes returned, and I felt aliveness. No longer drowning in the fabrics of fear, uncertainty, hopelessness, etc.

Today, Wandering Nook offers uniquely curated respite experiences for individuals, families, and helping professionals seeking nervous system restoration. The Wandering Nook is inspired by the principles of The Transformational Travel Council.

This framework recognizes that travel can be more than a getaway - it can be an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with ourselves, and engage more meaningfully with the places we visit. Experiences at Wandering Nook are designed to support reflection, presence, and connection with nature, community, and personal wellbeing at your own pace.
